TOP TIP OF THE WEEK: Suggested By YOU!

COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE: Safety is a Priority

Hi everyone!

So we had an incident this week at The Little Tree House Library - luckily no one was badly injured but we thought it's a good time to remind everyone about our health and safety practices!
Now doesn't that sound like fun?!

1. The computer area is kept clean and sanitary. Please do not bring food or drinks that could spill and ruin equipment!

2. We keep all power points checked and organised so it's up you to be aware of how many items you're plugging into a single point. It is also very dangerous to plug anything into a live point so please check what's already plugged in and then decide whether or not to turn it off or find another point.

3. We also make sure all the equipment, books and furniture is routinely tested and checked so if you notice anything (eg. a frayed wire, a strange ticking sound) or accidentally break something - please let us know!

4. Please familiarise yourself with the location of the fire extinguishes - one is in the back corner of the study zone and one is near the front door tucked behind the information desk.
And please take a moment to memorise the evacuation meeting point - library car park.
There is a map just inside the front door showing this information too.

5. If you don't know how to use any of the equipment (eg. printers, scanners, computers, cameras) or have a question please ASK A LIBRARIAN. You could hurt yourself or damage the equipment if you misuse it.

6. Can't reach a book? Ask for a kick stool or ask someone taller then you to help. Please don't climb!

7. Use two hands to carry books, cameras etc. when you're not sure about the weight of the item. Be aware of the item's weight and how long you'll be carrying it as you don't want to strain or hurt yourself.

Please remember that you can ASK A LIBRARIAN about anything!

5 SIMPLE COMPUTER USAGE TIPS

Hi everyone!

We're just making a nice and quick post about the acceptable usage of computers within The Little Tree House Library as we've been getting a lot enquires!

For some easy reading we've made 5 Top Things to remember:
  • PIRACY. You may have sailed the seven seas with your crew or you may not have - either way there is strictly no illegal downloads or any breach of copyright/ piracy laws allowed within the library.
  • APPROPRIATE. Please. This is a library. If you're not sure the site is acceptable to browse in public maybe consider if you'd show it to your Grandparents? Or ASK A LIBRARIAN! 😀 We are always eager to help!
  • SHHHHHHHH! Using the computers for anything involving audio is completely acceptable (if it's appropriate 👀) but please either bring your own headphone or borrow some from the information desk. Yes. HEADPHONES as in plug into port.
  • REMEMBER TO STRETCH. Our computers can be booked either when you come, through a form on our Facebook page The Little Tree House Library or via phone (+61 9571 6895). A single slot is up to an hour but you can book multiple slots in a row to ensure a few hours of ...study. Fair warning: If we see the same person sitting in front of a computer for three hours we will ask you to stretch to avoid fatigue.
  • THIS IS A LIBRARY. Bottled drinks only. No food (even very crunchy snacks) or other drinks including coffee. Coffee in a bottle? Acceptable.
Please keep these 5 top tips for using our computers in mind and feel free to bring in your own computer, tablet etc. and use our WiFi which is completely free to all library members!
